Lena – The “Village of Lights” preparation is underway at the Village of Lena. The Holiday kickoff is scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd starting at 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. the Lena Promotions Committee is spearheading the project to help bring awareness of the local businesses and the Village. The kickoff is starting with a holiday movie and popcorn at the Lena Public Library. Santa is taking time out of his busy schedule to visit Lena at the Village Hall starting at 5 p.m. arriving by Fire truck. Sign up for a chance to win a 3 foot stocking or a Night before Christmas box. Local businesses and clubs are sponsoring special treats and there is a “Village of Lights’ game board that if you visit all the participating businesses and get your card “punched” you have a chance to win a variety of prizes. Some of the activities include frosting cookies at the Wooden Shoe, write a letter to Santa at Lena Lanes, have a hot dog at Vintage Insurance and get a bag of candy at McGuire Sport’s Bar. There is something special for you at each of our 15 stops. Also caroling, Christmas trees, wreaths and poinsettia sales, candy and bake sale plus much more will help to make this event extra special. We are hoping the residents as well as the businesses will decorate in support of this event for our village. Make this your yearly family tradition.
